Bout of Books Readathon Updates

BoB15-200x200

This post is being used for Bout of Books Readathon updates throughout the week. I will add to this post as a new day begins until the end of the event. As a reminder, my readathon goals and book list can be found on my previous post.

Day 1 – Monday
Pages Read Today: 364
Total Pages Read: 364
Books Finished Today: 1
Total Books Finished: 1
Notes/Thoughts: Bout of Books is off to a great start for me! I read Brave Enough (a book of quotes) by Cheryl Strayed. Several of the quotes stuck with me, which is the purpose of a quotes book, I guess. I also started reading Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy. It feels like a mixture of Drop Dead Gorgeous, small town Texas living (y’all), and my teen years. Whether that’s a good thing or not, I’m excited to keep reading.
Challenge: #insixwords

Day 2 – Tuesday
Pages Read Today: 167
Total Pages Read: 531
Books Finished Today: 1
Total Books Finished: 2
Notes/Thoughts: I really enjoyed Dumplin’ and gave it 4 stars. Definitely took me back to my teen years in some ways. Terrifying, but interesting in a good way. I didn’t read a lot today due to work and friend plans, but I’m ready for book 3 after work on Wednesday.
Challenge: Would You Rather

Day 3 – Wednesday
Pages Read Today: 184
Total Pages Read: 715
Books Finished Today: 0
Total Books Finished: 2
Notes/Thoughts: I started reading Six of Crows, and it’s amazing. I can’t handle that the main character is only 17. Freaks me out a bit, but I also kind of love it. Can’t wait to (hopefully) finish it on Thursday!
Challenge: The Rainbow Challenge

Day 4 – Thursday
Pages Read Today: 280
Total Pages Read: 995
Books Finished Today: 1
Total Books Finished: 3
Notes/Thoughts: Six of Crows is AMAZING! Seriously, everyone needs to read it if they haven’t yet. I’m now in the unfortunate position of having to wait for the next book, as I feel like I’m doing with several other series right now. It will be well worth the wait, I’m sure! Next up… something. I’m not sure yet. Something shorter before starting Atonement.
Challenge: None

Day 5 – Friday
Pages Read Today: 463
Total Pages Read: 1,458
Books Finished Today: 1
Total Books Finished: 4
Notes/Thoughts: I ended up starting with Atonement since I was still on a Six of Crows high, and a reread seemed better than something new. That being said, Atonement is longer than most books I read for readathons, so I took a break halfway through and read The Legends of Ashildr (3 stars).
Challenge: None

Day 6 – Saturday
Pages Read Today: 316
Total Pages Read: 1,774
Books Finished Today: 1
Total Books Finished: 5
Notes/Thoughts: I finished my Atonement reread, and I loved it just as much as the first time. I also started reading Honor Girl, which has been interesting so far. I went to a religious camp as a child, but not as a teenager, so there are definitely some differences. But I probably did like the Backstreet Boys back then like the main character does, so there’s one thing in common. (But let’s be honest, NSYNC was better.)
Challenge: Comfy Reading Spot

Day 7 – Sunday
Pages Read Today: 397
Total Pages Read: 2,171
Books Finished Today: 1
Total Books Finished: 6
Notes/Thoughts: Final day! I finished reading Honor Girl (3 stars) and continued my #PotterBinge with Order of the Phoenix. It’s such a beast of a book, and getting to page 250 finally feels like progress.
Challenge: None

I hope everyone enjoyed Bout of Books! I’ll be at Book Expo America (FIRST TIMER!) during the next readathon round as well as a road trip to see my best friend in Wisconsin, so I’m not sure if I’ll join in on the reading. I’d normally say yes, but I’d honestly rather focus on hanging out with blog friends, my bestie, and her husband/son (my godson). If you don’t see me at the next round, have fun, and read all the things!
