It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Happy Monday, friends! I hope your weeks are all off to a fabulous start. Life has been pretty busy but fantastic on my end. I spent all of last week working remotely and spending time with a friend in the Minneapolis area. We watched several Disney movies, did crafty things, and hung out with friends. I’m pleased to announce that Julianne (Outlandish Lit) is a real person, and a pretty fantastic one at that. I copied her drink and food choices (orange soda and chicken strips, naturally), and we played LIFE. You know, basic adulting stuff. She also suckered me into spending $70 on books/comics… and by suckered I mean I was on a binge and she recommended some books like a good bookseller.

Also, I’ve been terrible at life updates lately, so some slightly old news is the fact that I won National Novel Writing Month! I wrote a little over 50k in November, and now I’m slowly working on continuing the novel until the first draft is finished. I have about 30k left, so I should finish by January. Once that’s done I can start editing my last novel, and hopefully something big will come from that in 2016. Maybe I’ll be one of those fancy authors with a finished book that people get to read. Maybe.

Now, time for the reads…

Currently Reading

Confession: I’ve never read Joan Didion. Pretty terrible, right? Well, I’m fixing that now by reading The Year of Magical Thinking. I’m not far into it yet, but I’m already hooked. We’ll see how things shape up once I finish.

Coming Up This Week

I’m finally starting my reread of the Harry Potter series for the Harry Potter Readalong. This series will never get old, and I always seem to learn something new. I plan on reading the illustrated version of The Sorcerer’s Stone this week, and possibly The Chamber of Secrets as well if I’m feeling ambitious. Can’t wait to jump back into Harry’s world (as if I ever left)!

What are you reading this week? Any big plans outside of reading?

  1. OMG I’m jealous of the illustrated HP! I flipped through one a few weeks ago and was like hmmm I might have to add these to my collection. I watched the video on Pottermore of the illustrator and it was crazy his organization and the world he’s built.
