Update: The winner of the book giveaway is Chelsea! Thanks to everyone for signing up. Don’t forget, some of the discounts below are still good. Happy shopping!
Welcome to Five Friday Favorites! I decided to start this new meme to focus on stuff that interests me. This could be objects, places, people, books, etc. I don’t have any guidelines for it, so we’ll see how this goes. Also, shout out to Kayla for helping me with the image above. She has all the skills.
I wanted to start things off with a holiday theme of giving. Below are five things I’ve been loving lately as well as some opportunities for you to save money while shopping and give back to others. You also have a chance to win a book, and who doesn’t love that? Let’s get started…
I love living in Fargo, ND because of how many local businesses have popped up over the past decade, including coffee shops and roasters. Rally Beans is one of the newer places to get coffee, and I’m glad I came across it.
What I love most about Rally Beans is that they are committed to the Fargo-Moorhead community. They work with various fundraising partners to help local schools and organizations raise money. A percentage of Rally Beans proceeds go to these groups to help them meet their fundraising goals. I was hooked on the mission behind the business, and the next step was to taste the coffee.
I was sent a couple bags to try, and I’m extremely pleased with the result. They offer Fair Trade Certified and USDA Certified Organic coffee, and they make delicious, unique blends like Nutty Aunt Hazel and Peppermint Stick.
I tried their Parisian blend first. I love dark roast coffee so Parisian was right up my alley. I added the grounds to my French press because that’s the only way to make a Parisian blend. Trust me, the taste is far better than my photography skills. If you like dark roast, Parisian blend has my vote.
My second bag was Mountain Harvest blend, which is Fair Trade Certified and USDA Certified Organic. It’s a nice mixture of medium and bold blends, and it has a smokey aroma that you’d expect from a mountain blend. If you live in the flat lands like I do, pour this blend into a mountain city mug (like my Breckenridge, CO mug) and stare at a picture of a mountain. You’ll feel right at home.
For Shopping: Visit the Rallies page to purchase coffee from one of the fundraising partners. You can also purchase from their online retail store, but I think it’s better to support a fundraising group.
2. Bombas Socks
Another company I’m fond of that gives back is Bombas Socks. For every pair purchased, another pair is donated to those in need. These socks are designed for both athletic and leisure wear, and they come in calf and ankle lengths with several color options for men, women, and children.
I have over a dozen pairs now, and I’m obsessed. I’ve been wearing them since early summer and haven’t noticed any change in wear. They aren’t cheap, but they’re well worth the cost in the end. Bonus: Check below for a discount to save!
For Shopping: Follow this link for 20% off four pairs PLUS free shipping. Offer good through January 1, 2016.
Note: You need to buy a four-pack in order for the discount to work.
Mint Waffle was started by one of my best friends. She’s full of sass, wit, and nerdisms, and so it’s only natural that her cards are the same. She makes snarky cards, cat and dog cards, and nerdy cards from stuff like Harry Potter and Doctor Who.
Mint Waffle has so much more than holiday cards, so make sure to check everything out. I’ve purchased several cards for birthdays, other holidays, adulting, and just because my friends are awesome and deserve a card every so often.
For Shopping: Use promo code MintBlogger for 20% off your purchase. Offer good through December 31, 2015.
Another shop I love is DorkEMom Crafts. Dorks are obviously the theme, which is a huge win as far as I’m concerned. She makes wicked amazing Harry Potter coasters (see above) as well as peg hole characters and clay figures that can be made into key chains.
I don’t know about you, but I’m going to buy the Harry Potter coasters. I’m also going to buy the two items below. Time to dork up my life a little more… as if it’s not already dorked up enough.
5. Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff (Giveaway)
A list of favorite things wouldn’t be complete without a book. I just finished Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff for book club, and I was completely blown away by how incredible it was. I won’t go into details since I don’t want to spoil anything, but I highly recommend giving it a read. And because this is a gifts themed post, I’m going to give one copy away to a randomly selected winner. If you’ve already read it, enter to win it for someone else.
To Enter: Leave a comment letting me know which of these items/shops interests you the most, and include your email address so I can contact you if you win.
For Bonus Entries: Receive one bonus entry for each item purchased from Mint Waffle and/or DorkEMom, and two bonus entries for purchasing from Rally Beans and/or Bombas Socks. Let me know in your comment if you bought anything. I’ll be able to confirm it with the businesses.
The giveaway is international. It will end on December 1st at 11:59 pm Central Time.
Happy shopping, and best of luck with the giveaway!
