Up this week: Ten Book to Movie Adaptations I’m Looking Forward to Seeing

So many books are being made into movies these days. I’ve seen some incredible adaptations lately like The Martian, and I can’t wait for more. Below are ten page to screen adaptations that I’m looking forward to seeing. I picked movies that have either just come out or will be coming out in future.

1. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Cressida-MJ2
It’s crazy to think that these films are almost over! Overall, I’m pleased with these adaptations. I just reread Mockingjay in preparation for this movie. Cressida is my favorite, so she gets the featured image.

2. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander (J.K. Rowling)

This is a loose adaptation since the book is just a description of various beasts, but I’m ready to see more of Rowling’s world on screen. Also, I’m still pretending the word Muggle is universal. I will never use the word No-Maj. Rubbish.

3. Alice Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll

I loved the casting for the first of these Tim Burton movies, and the trailer for the second half looks amazing. Let’s do this, Alan Rickman.

4. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Speaking of Tim Burton, it’s no surprise that he’s taking on this book adaptation. Creepy children’s story? Check.

5. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

This book was horrible, but in a good way. Flynn is such an intense writer, and as much as I don’t want to see this movie, I really do.

6. Room by Emma Donoghue

I finally read this book recently, and Brie Larson will surely be incredible. This is another one that I’m not sure I want to see, but then again I really do.

7. Looking for Alaska by John Green

Another John Green book being made into the movie, and I’m totally fine with that. Can’t wait to find out more about the casting for this one.

8. The Death Cure by James Dashner

Okay, I’m not even going to pretend I’m excited to see this as an adaptation. These movies are so far from the books now that it’s not worth comparing. That being said, I am looking forward to the movie as a movie.

9. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

Darling Andy Serkis’ Imaginarium Studios signed on to turn one of my favorite series into movies. No idea when it will actually happen, but there are only two of seven books out, so I hope they don’t rush it no matter how much I want to see it.

10. Burial Rites by Hannah Kent

I’ve heard Jennifer Lawrence might be playing the lead in this historical fiction novel, and I love her so that would be glorious. Either way, this book was incredible, so I’m excited for it to be a movie. No idea on release date. Probably 2017. The wait begins!

What are some page to screen adaptations that you’re looking forward to seeing?
