Welcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This weekly blog meme is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. It allows readers to wrap up the previous week of reading and talk about books for the week ahead.
Last week was all about Poldark by Winston Graham. I’m normally on the ball with book-to-screen adaptations, but I got a bit behind with this one. Now that I’m caught up from reading Ross Poldark and Demelza I can start watching the TV show on PBS. I highly recommend this series, and I look forward to reading the other books in future.
Speaking of book-to-screen adaptations, Dark Places by Gillian Flynn is coming out as a movie this week. The cast sounds phenomenal (Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Chloe Grace Moretz, etc.) and I love Gillian Flynn, so this is a win-win.
Coming Up This Week
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Kitchens of the Great Midwest by J. Ryan Stradal. Being a Midwesterner and a lover of food, I had to add this book to my list.
I don’t know much about Nimona by Noelle Stevenson, but my Goodreads friends seem to like it. It also has a badass looking ginger for a protagonist. What’s not to love?
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen is a reread for me as part of Austen in August. Now that I’ve read all of her books I’m going back and rereading a couple each year. You can find my original review here.
Between these reads and the rest of plans for the week, I’m booked. (No pun intended, or possibly intended. You decide.) My best friend is coming this weekend, and he’s one of the only people who takes priority to books. I’m also visiting my grandma after work today and have a couple other things planned, so four books might be a little ambitious. Either way, it’s going to be a great week.
Happy Monday to you all!
What are you reading this week? Any big plans outside of reading?
